It seems that I have been cooking for my entire life but in truth I probably began around the age of eight or nine when my mother finally trusted me to use her new luxury Kenmore range. Let me tell you that luxury has come a long way. It was a funky product of the early 70's in burnt orange with storage below, and oven above. To access the cooking elements, you actually pulled an oversized stainless steel drawer out of the middle of the behemoth. I remember thinking I was quite cool opening a can of Spaghetti O's with the banana yellow electric can opener (with attached knife sharpener). Of course the "chef" in me was already beginning to surface so I immediately riffled through the refrigerator and cupboards, adding ketchup and dry grated parmesan cheese in an effort to make this already delectable dish even more gourmet.

My point in telling you the story of my colorful if somewhat checkered culinary beginnings is this: we all start somewhere. It's where we go from there that makes us who we are. Whether you are a novice in the kitchen or an expert, with the information found on this site, there are no limits to where your "inner chef" can go.
